April 1996

On the evening of Wednesday, April 24, 1996, around 10 Christians voluntarily gathered at the house of Mr. Asai in Pasadena, California to start a new church. They began to worship in English in a small classroom at William Carey International University in Pasadena from the following Sunday. Soon they started services in Japanese for those who didn't understand English. They also began "Friday Prayer Time."

August 1996

The group was officially incorporated as a Church -- a nonprofit organization, and ?gDavar Kingdom of God?h was born. The Tape Ministry began recording of the weekly sermons.

December 1996

First puppet show ?gPeace be with you?h (about Jesus?f death and resurrection, with original music composed by Jun Asai) was staged.

August 1997

First Summer Bible Seminar (Retreat) was held, where people spent several days in one cabin focusing on the Scripture, on prayer and serving one another.

March 1998

Moved to Boyle Heights ( East Los Angeles ) and began renting a vacant church facility. In addition to the services and Bible Studies, church activities such as Saturday Serving Hours were started in which church members were trained to serve one another by cleaning rooms and cooking the lunch meals served on Sundays.

First Bazaar (garage sale) held. After that, it was regularly held in Spring, Summer, and Fall. Donations increased each time. Also began volunteer work for homeless people once a month.

December 2002

Puppet show ?gPacem Story,?h (original story by Jun Asai) was staged.

December 2005

Puppet show ?gThe Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,?h adapted from the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, was performed in English.

December 2005

First Winter Bible Seminar held in addition to the Summer Bible Seminar. Some participants came from other States as well as from overseas.

December 2006

Puppet show ?gThe Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe?h performed in Japanese.

June 2007

Replaced tape recorder with a CD recorder. Sermons now recorded in digital. Former ?g Tape Ministry?h renamed as ?gWord Ministry.?h

February 2008

Moved to William Carey International University in Pasadena. Started Saturday worship.
